Local governments appeal to Nawrocki. "It would be against the people."

"Not signing this bill would be against the people and against Poland's districts. Wind investments will bring much-needed money to municipalities and residents," said Dawid Litwin, mayor of Potęgowo and president of the Association of Renewable Energy-Friendly Municipalities (SGPEO), in a press release.
Local government officials: it's time to release wind turbine construction after a decade of stagnationIn its appeal to the President of the Republic of Poland, SGPEO, together with other organizations associating Polish municipalities, emphasizes that the release of the construction of onshore wind turbines, after a decade of almost complete stagnation , is a huge development opportunity and real financial benefits for municipalities.
Taxes on wind turbines built will generate revenue for municipalities of approximately PLN 150,000-200,000 per wind turbine annually , throughout its operational life. According to the draft law, wind farm owners will contribute to a newly created participatory budget: PLN 20,000 per year for every 1 MW of installed capacity. The funds will go directly to residents living within 1 km of a wind turbine.
Additional revenue will allow municipalities to, for example, repair roads, build and modernize educational facilities, and playgrounds. Furthermore, new jobs will be created during the construction and operation of wind farms.
Local government officials: new regulations give us controlLocal government officials emphasize that the new regulations give them full control over what will be built and where.
"The law allows for the location of new wind turbines within 500 meters of buildings, only if local governments and communities want them in their area. This is because, according to the law , new turbines can only be located based on a Local Spatial Development Plan , the preparation of which is the responsibility of local governments, and this amendment does not change this in any way," adds Dawid Litwin.
The amended act also provides for benefits for farmers who will be able to obtain additional income from leasing land for investment.
In addition to the benefits at the local level, local government officials remind us that the rapid development of onshore wind energy can actually reduce energy costs for end users and help make the Polish economy independent from imports of expensive fossil fuels.
Liberalization of the Wind Farm Act is an opportunity for over 41 GW of wind power by 2040.
Wind energy enjoys widespread public support. CBOS research shows that as many as 83% of Poles (regardless of political affiliation) support the development of wind turbines in our country, with only 10% opposing it. In the same survey, as many as 68% of Poles would support the idea of building a wind farm in their neighborhood, with only 22% opposing it.
